This Airstream, affectionately named Cat’s Pajamas, is a stunning example of how simple changes can make a big difference in a small space.

Our client, a solo traveler who also tutors online and has two furry companions, wanted to update their Airstream’s outdated look and create a functional, inviting, and durable living space.

Creating a brighter space by painting all cabinetry with a refreshing white and adding matte black hardware was the first step to reaching our client’s goal.

To achieve this goal, we painted all the cabinetry in a bright, refreshing white and added sleek matte black hardware. We also replaced the “bump out sink” with a spacious farmhouse sink, which opened up the living area and added a touch of luxury. The walnut butcher block counters complemented the contemporary and sophisticated look, while the LVT wood-look flooring added warmth and needed durability for our client’s furry companions.

We also removed part of the lounge and added a much-needed storage cabinet with five large drawers and a hidden electrical panel. 

The dinette space now features new upholstery and additional storage, preserving its functionality as a sleeping area. In addition, we replaced the original tabletop with a matching walnut butcher block table, creating a cohesive look.

One of the most impactful changes was the addition of a walnut sliding barn door to the bathroom, matching the countertops and adding to the farmhouse interior’s contemporary feel. 

Moving the sliding door to the inside of the bathroom created extra wall space in the hallway, allowing our client to display artwork, travel memories, and coat hooks.

Overall, Cat’s Pajamas is now a functional and welcoming space where our clients can travel in style and comfort.

Here’s a list of all the interior changes we made:

• All existing cabinets and interior walls were painted white. 

• New matte black cabinet and drawer hardware was added throughout the Airstream. 

• Walnut butcher block counters and tabletops were installed throughout. 

• Highly-durable LVT flooring was added throughout. 

• The galley cabinet and sink were partially removed and replaced with a new cabinet and large farmhouse sink with a pull-down faucet. 

• The lounge extension was removed, and a new storage cabinet with large drawers was installed in its place. 

• New dinette upholstery fabric and style were added, and a new storage compartment with a drawer was installed under the curbside dinette bench. 

• The microwave was removed, and a new open storage cubby was installed. 

• The bathroom wall was straightened out, and a custom walnut sliding barn door was installed. 

• A new walnut counter, vessel sink, and faucet were installed in the bathroom. 

• A new stainless steel shower with a teak duckboard and bench, matte black hardware, and a matte black shower door with an acrylic insert was installed. 

• A new vista-view window was added to the shower, providing privacy but allowing for more daylight. 

• Shelves were added to the small bedroom wardrobe, and a pullout rack was added to the large wardrobe. 

• Matte black reading lights were installed above the dinette and in the bedroom. 

• Old accordion doors and tracks were removed. 

• The TV in the bedroom was removed. 

• New OceanAir roller blinds were installed.
